In the productive valley below the snow-capped peaks of the Itcha and Ilgachuz Mountain ranges you will find one of the most profitable cow calf operations in the Chilcotin Region.
Guichon Creek Ranch was homesteaded in 1958 and is still in the same family. Only 34kms from the village of Anahim Lake, you will find a picturesque ranch compromised of 12 titles, 1462.26 deeded acres and 1883.53 acres of leased land, along with grazing for 650+/- cows.
Over the last 10 years the current owners have grown the ranch by the acquisition of both the C2 Ranch and Morrison Meadow Ranch. The combination of these ranches produces enough winter forage to sustain more than the current number of cattle. The probability of the ranch comes from low impact costs with no pumps to irrigate. All 1250 acres in production are irrigated by way of flood and yield nearly 2.0 ton per acre with the potential to be higher with fertilizer.
Another value-added feature is that all of the grazing range is out of the gate from May 25th to October 15th. There are three yard sites, which are all on solar and generator systems. The ranches have well maintained cattle handling systems for easy movement. The corrals at C2 Ranch are not totally completed. The owners have worked hard to keep up the fencing with 15 miles of new fence build in recent years.
If you are in the market for a productive, self sustainable ranch with low input costs in a beautiful setting, you need to visit and view Guichon Creek Ranch.
Location: Anahim Lake is located on the Bella Coola Hwy 20, 198 miles (316 km) west of Williams Lake and 84 miles (135 km) east of Bella Coola. The nearest community is Nimpo Lake, 10.5 miles (17 km) to the southwest on Highway 20. Population: 1,500
Anahim Lake is the site of a long-established Chilcotin settlement, which was expanded in the 1940s and the 1950s by Carrier Native peoples who had gradually left their remote villages to move to Anahim Lake. The Native community of Anahim Lake is a splendid base from which to embark on horseback or hiking trips into the surrounding Chilcotin wilderness of the Itcha Mountains, the Ilgachuz Mountains, and the multi-hued Rainbow Mountains. The largest community in the West Chilcotin, Anahim Lake is also the eastern gateway to the southern portion of Tweedsmuir Provincial Park – and some phenomenal wilderness recreation.
